I have had a long career in Art & Design. I began working in the private sector as an illustrator and visualiser in both Civil Engineering and Architectural practices. I was head of design for a local authority for fifteen years, then lectured in an Art College on an ND Graphic Design and on a Foundation Diploma at Rochdale Art College for a further eight years. Finally, I was appointed as an Examiner/Verifier for BTC Nationals and Higher Nationals. In 1992 I became a Government Registered Inspector for Art & Design provision in both FE & HE Colleges. I was elected a member of The Chartered Society of Designers in 1977.
I have always had a strong interest in Textile Art and Creative Embroidery. This finally took priority on retirement. I am at my happiest creating in fabric and stitch.
I have attended courses with the Textile Study Group, Pauline Burbidge, James Hunting, Angie Hughes, Sheena Norquay, Sandra Meech, Ruth Issett and Bobby Britnell. I am currently studying on the Masterclass with Stitchbusiness in Durham
